However, if you are one of the very rich guys looking on E-bay at the moment there is apparently some bed casting differences between the power cross feed and early non cross feed machines.

However do check that things are clean under the saddle because bits do migrate under there and can cause tightening as you move away from the chuck. It always surprises me just how much stuff gets embedded in the felt wiper at the front.
